BOWES, Marjorie

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marjorie Bowes. Marjorie passed away peacefully at Parkview Home in Stouffville in her 91st year on January 29, 2017. Born in 1926 in Windsor, Ontario, Marjorie skipped two grades in school in Windsor and later attended the University of Toronto Faculty of Pharmacy where she was one of the few female graduates at that time. It was there she met her future husband and fellow pharmacist Harry Bowes. Marjorie successfully owned and managed her own pharmacy on St. Clair Avenue in Toronto. In 1967 they moved to Stouffville and purchased Houston's Pharmacy at 1 Main Street West. They became active in the Stouffville community and raised two children, Wayne and Brian. Harry was later recognised in the naming of the Harry Bowes Public School for his years of community service with Marjorie by his side. Marjorie also enjoyed her winters in Florida and her many friends.

Marjorie is pre deceased by her beloved husband Harry in 2010. She is survived by her sons Wayne and Brian (Katharine). There was no one she loved more than her grandchildren Leah and Christopher. She had a wonderful laugh and a great love for her family and we will all miss her deeply. Marjorie is also survived by her brother Donald Ellison of Westland Michigan, and her sister June Muro Ellison of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Thank you to the many wonderful people at Parkview Home in Stouffville, Ontario and Sunrise of Unionville.

Family will receive friends at the O’Neill Funeral Home, 6324 Main Street Stouffville, Ontario at the corner of Main and Church Street (905)642-2855.
